Dear Soul searchers,

We were created with an inner hole which was naturally to be filled by one thing: Allah’s love. As time passed on, we became distant from Allah when we tried to fill that hole with something other than Allah, whether that was another person or a thing. If you’ve noticed, many people claim that they are ‘searching for happiness’. I, myself, used to be one of those people. I was always on this hunt for happiness, to finally fill this missing piece in me, that one feeling that I felt would complete me. But the thing that leads to our own destruction is that we seek to fill that hole with other things than what it was actually meant for. We started to fill that whole with the creation and other things even that hole was only meant to be completed by Allah. 

If any of you have taken basic biology or have studied the basics of metabolism, you’ll remember studying enzymes. An enzyme has an active site where the actual reaction takes place when the substrate binds. The active site is very specific to the substrate. When the substrate binds, something called induced fit occurs where the enzyme kind of hugs the substrate and it ‘fits’ snug and sound into that active site. Now, compared to this enzyme and its active site, when we try to fill that whole with something other than Allah, is just like trying to fit a circular shaped substrate into a triangular shaped active site, its not gonna work and the reaction isn’t gonna happen. We’re not gonna feel the sweetness of Iman, of ‘ibada, we’re not gonna feel true love or true happiness unless we complete that inner hole with Allah, and let our Creator complete us. 

And All praises belong to Allah. Ya Rab, we are incomplete without your rahma, without your love, and we will only truly be satisfied the Day we meet you and you are pleased with us. inshaa’Allah.
